In the Bible, sin is often depicted as a plague which has ravished the world. On one occasion, the great prophet cried out: “Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there?” (Jeremiah 8:22). A balm is a fragrant oil used to treat sickness or soothe wounds. Jeremiah was looking for a cure for the nation. Was the request of this man of God ever granted? Was his question ever answered?
