We’ve come to one of the most memorable occasions in Abraham’s storied walk with God: the offering of Isaac. Consider the splendor of this man of faith’s confidence in the Lord as he walked his son to Mt. Moriah, marched up the slope, constructed the familiar altar, and bound his son in preparation for the offering.
Promises made; promises kept! While politicians may invoke such a slogan, God alone is the ultimate promise keeper. Genesis 21 highlights this wonderful divine trait being poured out on Abraham and Sarah with the birth of their long-awaited son, Isaac. Unfortunately, even this festive occasion is marred by family drama.
In this sermon from the 2019 TX Preacher’s Study, Brother Rodriguez approaches the difficult topic of how those in roles of church leadership can deal with and overcome feelings of disappointment in their line of work.
Genesis 20 documents an interaction between Abraham and a regional ruler named Abimelech. The meeting started off poorly for the patriarch who was caught telling an old lie. Thankfully, Abraham is redeemed by God’s intervention and once again he “called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God” (Genesis 21:33).
