Some Times Have Changed

Evangelist Paul Nichols, at 95 years of age, has been preaching the gospel for over 75 years. In this sermon, he comments on some of the changes he has noticed over the decades. Lessons like these should remind that even though the world is constantly changing, the gospel of Christ and its power to save remains the same.

Words

The incredible significance of the words we speak was revealed by the Lord Jesus in a sobering statement made to those religious leaders of the Jews: “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matthew 12:37). Evangelist Austin McConnell discusses some pitfalls of our words in this important sermon.

Laughter

Laughter is a wonderful blessing from the Lord. In fact, laughter is also a fascinating Biblical theme. In this sermon from evangelist Billy Dickinson were are reminded of the ancient wisdom of Solomon: there is “a time to weep and a time to laugh” (Ecclesiastes 3:4).

Balaam’s Vain Prayer

Balaam was a diviner hired by the Moabites to curse Israel. However, God intervened causing Balaam to do the opposite of what he sought to accomplish – he blessed Israel. As Balaam inadvertently spoke on behalf of the Lord, he prayed these words:

“Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my end be like his!” (Numbers 23:10).

The problem with this prayer, as explained by evangelist Smith Bibens, was that while Balaam desired to die like the righteous he did not seek to live like them. Thus, Balaam’s prayer was vain and useless.

The Church’s Greatest Need

Modern congregations have many needs such as more qualified elders and men who are willing to be sent out as evangelists, but evangelist Matthew Barnes proposes that above all else, the church has one, great, overarching need which, if met, would fix what might be otherwise lacking.
