On Saturday August, 4th our Faith Builder series continued with the preaching of brother Matthew Barnes.
Matthew has recently appeared on the circuit of young preachers and has quickly shown himself to be very adept at both study and sermonizing. Brother Barnes has spent many hours in work and study with other preachers, chiefly our beloved and venerable brother Johnny Elmore (in this writer’s opinion one of the modern Church’s most scholarly teachers) and looks to him as a mentor and guide.
I encourage other young men who desire to serve as evangelists to follow his example and make good use of the wisdom and knowledge of our seasoned preachers. It is my prayer that Matthew will continue on his present course to keep the legacy of men like Johnny Elmore active in the church for years to come.
You will doubtless see the effects of Matthew’s study and work as he preaches the third sermon in our series, this concerning “The Birth”, the wonderful story of our Savior’s supernatural entrance into this world. His sermon will give both theological truth and practical exhortation from the narrative of Jesus Christ’s nativity. We pray for a long and successful life for Matthew laboring in God’s vineyard.
