While up on a mountain with a few of His disciples, Jesus “was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light” (Matthew 17:2). The men with the Lord were given an amazing privilege and honor to catch a glimpse of the true glory of Christ. Peter described the scene by writing, “He received from God the Father honor and glory” (2 Peter 1:17). In this sermon from the 2018 Mid-MO Study, evangelist Jerry Dickinson powerfully explains the details of this most incredible scene and its significance.

Acts 8 records an incredible event where God called upon a preacher named Philip to intercept an Ethiopian man in the middle of nowhere as he was traveling home. The two met on the highway and struck up a conversation about ancient prophecy. Excitement ensued and this sermon from evangelist Jerry Dickinson captures every wonderful moment.

The disciples ask a provocative question of the Lord Jesus in John 1:38 when they say “Where are you staying?” In the ancient Jewish world, no public establishments of education (such as modern colleges) were available. Those interested in becoming ‘disciples’ would entreat a teacher to accept their ‘internship’. There was no facility, but only the ‘Rabbi’. “Where are you staying?” was equivalent to saying, ‘Can I be your disciple?’ Evangelist Jerry Dickinson addresses this account in today’s sermon.
